MEET THE CREATORS
Andrew Collins
Favourite part of the job: The feeling of satisfaction upon completing a project, after a journey of mental and physical challenges to bring a vision to life.
Andrew was born in the UK and gained his qualification in Landscape Construction/Horticulture at Merrist Wood College, UK. He then went on to run successful landscaping businesses in England and Australia and won a gold medal at the Chelsea Flower Show in London.
Andrew and his family moved to New Zealand in 2003 and launched Designer Gardens shortly after.
When Andrew is not working hard in the garden he enjoys getting the blood pumping by participating in adventures with the multisport club. He enjoys keeping fit and also then recovering with yoga.

Serena Collins
Favourite part of the job: The relationships you build throughout the projects. It’s important to her to have an understanding and connection with the client so the process is enjoyable, and the desired result achieved.
Growing up, Serena worked alongside her father and admired his work. In doing so she discovered the challenge of physical work and enjoyed it, deciding that creating gardens was a career she was keen to pursue.
Upon completing her Diploma in Landscape Design, she realised Andrew was the best mentor for her in regards to learning the physical skills, and the tools to run a business successfully. It was time to start building this family business, and with the experience gained and two minds at work, it's been growing ever since. Serena won a bronze medal at the Ellerslie Flower Show.
When Serena is not working hard on the tools she enjoys getting out in nature by hiking and exploring remote parts of the country, and of course always searching for inspiration to spark new ideas.

Polly
Favourite part of the job: Exploring new sites and smells
Polly is a valued member of our team, she is our site dog/supervisor. She’s great with the clients and maintains a calming vibe on site, assisting with challenges where patience can be tested.
Polly responds assertively to tasks and especially enjoys excavation or planting where digging is involved, but only on demand.
